Overview

Fretform is designed to work without an account. The current public version does not send your practice routines or workspace settings to a Fretform server.

Data stored on your device

Fretform uses browser local storage to remember routine presets, workspace layout and scale, fretboard tuning, interface state, Practice Flow history, and YouTube links and comments you save in Riff Lab. Practice history can include the date, routine name, practiced duration, completion status, and time spent on each routine step. This information remains in your browser and is not sent to a Fretform server. It can be removed inside the relevant tool or by clearing site data.

Backup files

You can export locally stored settings and practice history as a JSON backup and import it later. The file is created on your device and is not uploaded to Fretform. You are responsible for storing and sharing exported files safely. Clearing browser data or changing devices may erase local data that has not been backed up.

Audio processing

Practice tones are generated through the browser's Web Audio features. Rhythm Lab plays locally hosted CC0 drum samples and can use browser-generated fallback sounds if those files cannot be loaded. Local files selected in Riff Lab are decoded and played inside your browser; Fretform does not upload or store those files. Fretform does not request microphone access and does not record your instrument.

YouTube embeds

Riff Lab loads the official YouTube embedded player only after you choose YouTube mode and submit a video URL. YouTube and Google may then receive information such as your IP address, device and browser information, referrer, playback activity, and cookies under the YouTube Terms of Service and Google Privacy Policy. The standard player may display YouTube controls, branding, and advertising. Fretform does not download, extract, rehost, or store YouTube video or audio.

Optional support payments

Fretform links to Ko-fi for optional one-time tips and recurring monthly support. Payment and payout information is processed by Ko-fi and the payment method you select, such as Stripe or PayPal, under their respective privacy policies. Fretform does not receive or store your full card number, bank-account credentials, or payment-service login information. Those services may receive information such as your name, email address, payment details, IP address, and device information when you use them.

Advertising and affiliate services

Fretform may add advertising or affiliate services in the future. If active, advertising providers such as Google and their partners may use cookies, local storage, IP addresses, or device information to deliver and measure ads, subject to consent requirements in your region. Affiliate partners may record a referral when you follow a labeled affiliate link. This policy and any consent controls will be updated before such services are enabled.

External links

Links to GitHub, retailers, or other third-party sites are governed by those services' own privacy policies. Fretform is not responsible for their data practices.
